The Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki celebrates 40 years of operation! As part of the celebratory events, a concert will be held at the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki by the Conservatory’s professors.
A few words about the Conservatory
The Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki was founded by thirty (30) distinguished artist-educators of all specialties, who formed a partnership and decided to create a Conservatory that is non-profit and aims to promote music education to wider social groups. It is recognized by the state and is a Member of the “European Union of Music Conservatories, Music Academies and Higher Music Education Institutions.” Today, about sixty (60) distinguished professors teach there.
At the C.C.T. (Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki) all the recognized musical instruments of the Classical School are taught, Advanced Theory, Monody, Melodramatic, Music Technology, Byzantine Music, Baroque Music, and additionally there are departments of Music and Movement Education for preschool children, a Music Pedagogy Training department, a Jazz, Rock-Blues department, Accordion - Keyboard - Recorder, song accompaniment - corepetition, and a new Traditional Music department. Orchestras, various workshops, and choirs of younger and older students also operate.
In the field of musical events, during the years of its operation since 1985, the C.C.T. (Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki) has presented many concerts performed by professors, students, and the orchestras and choirs of the C.C.T., such as the first children’s opera in Greece, children’s musicals, music theatre, and more, from Thessaloniki to Patras, from Komotini and Xanthi to Florina, as well as in other cities, in collaboration with Municipalities, the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace, the Deputy Ministry of Youth, and the Hellenic Television.
