The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Laboratory of Chemical, Physical Research & Archaeometry of AMTh, within the framework of the initiative “Measuring Culture through Archaeometry”, invite you to the archaeometric lecture of Dr. Vana Orfanou, titled “Archaeometallurgy: Archaeometric Approaches to Understanding Human Communities”.

The lecture will cover topics such as:

The evolution of metallurgy from prehistoric to Byzantine times.
The role of analytical techniques in the study of ancient metallurgy.
The contribution of experimental approaches.
The impact of long-term burial on metals and the management of corroded materials.
Questions about the future of archaeometallurgy.
